about

"As frost and icy weather descends and we are inevitably drawn to the comfort of our homes, the desire to hear a meditative and reflective soundtrack can often arrive.

Expertly crafted by synth master Tim Handels, this collection may be his finest yet - a dreamy, on point set of ambient ‘paintings' that capture the zeitgeist of the electronic scene in 2017 with elegant dexterity.

Producers of documentaries with modern, technological themes should sit up and take note of tracks such as ‘Converter Extended’. As blissful and soothing as the best Vangelis tracks - it is propelled by hyper modern glitch effects that conjure the flickering of an errant monitor screen.

‘Exhale' recalls 'Ambient Works' era Aphex Twin, its pulsing pads and subtle sequencing a treat for the ears - glacial scenes and images of icy rivers would suit this sleek, gliding beauty.

'On The Horizon’ is an obvious highlight. A nod to the classic ‘Under Ascent’ by Brian Eno doesn’t prevent this from being equally arresting and enveloping in its own right. Windy sound effects are employed to great effect as its emotional and ephemeral motif plays out with openhearted simplicity.

Fans of the hit series ‘Stranger Things’ will no doubt enjoy the 80’s styled electronics of ‘Omniplay’. Both reflective and uplifting, a sublime sense of musical tension is inherent in its widescreen pads, driven by delicate percussion and ominous synth sequences.

The excellently titled 'Control Alt Delete' is surely the aural embodiment of a computer malfunction. Mangled female speech is an unexpectedly joyous addition to this peaceful paean to all that is beautiful in error."
